The big thaw post-Christmas followed the worst snow in Northern Ireland in 25 years and record cold temperatures. With many services creeking under the pressure the digital infrastructure provision Northern Ireland Water required of Being Communications at least brought some relief during the crisis. Emergency processing power, extra bandwidth and committed support staff were all deployed within hours over the public holiday period to cater for spikes in demand rising to 150,000 visitors per day (25 times greater than the previously largest spike in demand) with no loss of website service. 

These are not the sort of challenges we relish but they are the ones we’re digitally ready for.
