The news that Wired is to re-launch in the UK has led me to revisit my copies from the first run of Wired UK. From April 1995 to March 1997 I collected every issue. Flicking through them, it seems like a life time ago and yet the conviction of how the digital revolution will / has changed the way we work and socialise is there. The content, if not fresh, is still relevant. With the opening edition calling for Thomas Paine (“Rights of Man”) to be the patron saint of the age of information to contributions from the late, great Douglas Adams. However, it has to be noted the ads really show their age – when cutting edge was a HP Vectra 486 DX4 with 8MB of RAM.
Having subscribed, I look forward to receiving the new edition in the post - not just online!
